Arun Valley Trekking

The Makalu Barun national park area is a place with big natural diversity and has numerous plants and animals.  This area is still very much untouched from modernization and urbanization which has helped a lot to protect its ecology. The Arun valley located inside the national park is home to various species of endangered animals like Red Panda, snow leopard, Himalayan black beer and gray leopard are some of the permanent wildlife of the park. This trek must be supported because of absence of lodges and tea houses. Sherpa, Rai and Limbus are main habitants of the Arun valley.

Walking north up the Arun River to Sedua and Num, we get to the upper Barun Khola valley for a close view of Mt Makalu (8,463m,the valley is renewed for its magnificent examples of Himalayan orchids and other wildflowers including many valuable medicinal plants. The national park covering 1500 + 830 sq, km. is the only protected area on earth with an elevation gain of 8,000m. the mountains visible from this area include Mt. Makalu (8,463m) fifth highest mountain in the world and fourth highest in Nepal. Mt. Chamlang (7,319m), Mt. Baruntse (7,129m). Mera Peak (6,654m). Recognized for its tremendous diversity of plants, animals and people, the area contains 25 species of rhododendron, 47 types of orchids, and 56 rare plants. Snow leopard, red panda, musk deer, wild boar, and they are among the wildlife found here.
